Exclamation Buy Or Lease - what you doin?

hey guys i am wondering which way to go leasing OR purchase (financed)

I have always bought my cars - but now thinking maybe to LEASE. Infiniti is offering 1.9% lease on the 2010 G37's (including Coupes)

Whats your thoughts? What have you done?

I wanted to do a poll - but i think newbies cannot do polls yet?

Lease...always do, just a personal choice, we lease both cars and that way never have a car out of warranty and a new one every 3 years.

my only challenge with lease is that you have to pay to fix up the car on returning it - like scratches, hood chips, etc...doesnt that get expensive?

my GF has a Toyota on lease - and its brand new and someone scuffed the side now she has to fix it when she returns it...its not that bad - but has to be fixed..there are so many idiot drivers out there that it doesnt matter how well you take care of your car.

If you are planning on keeping the car after the lease is up anyways, I'd just buy it. Especially in the current economy, if things suddenly change in terms of your financial situation (hopefully the don't!) then you can always sell the car in a pinch instead of continuing to make payments on it.

Not to mention you can mod it as much as you want without having to worry about converting it back to stock when if you decide not to buy back the car.

Before my current car (09 STI) I had an 05 Altima SE-R... the only thing the dealer charged me for when returning it was a set of tires (260hp to the front wheels (even if rotated frequently) = going through tires pretty quick haha). It had a decent amount of chips in the front bumper from bugs, rocks, etc, but they didn't care.

I'd say bottom line, if you aren't planning on modding it a lot, you are comfortable in your current financial situation, you aren't sure if you are going to want a new car in a few years, and if the lease rates are good enough, just lease it. I'm not planning any major mods to my 09 STI, and the lease rates were pretty awesome (supposedly lowest since the STI has been here) I decided to lease it instead.

Nope, I've never had to pay for extra wear and tear. They obviously expect small things like tiny stone chips and scuffs but if it's a big stone chip or dig or something like that then yeah you'll have to pay.

Everyone in my family leases. You don't have a car out of warranty, and you don't need to worry about trade in values or trying to sell it later.
