If all goes well, I should be buying my G37s on Saturday. It will be a private party buy so I need to get it inspected. Heres my question: How much does an inspection cost from a dealership, and how long will it take? Also, any other suggestions to look out for or negotiate about when buying from a private party??? Take it for a lengthy test drive. Include various roads. Make sure you take it on the interstate too, at highway speeds. Drive in different lanes of traffic. Make sure the car tracks straight while driving, accelerating, and braking.

Inspect usual things like tires, brakes, hoses, belts. Ask for maintenance history.

What exactly are you buying?

If tires/brakes are worn, use that as bargaining leverage. Same for any visible damage. Check inside doors/hood/trunk for paint tape lines. Not sure what a dealer inspection will really show. They're not going to be pulling plugs to do a compression test on all cylinders.

Incase anyone was curious about the price of a pre-inspection it is: $125.00 @ Infiniti Dealership. That price may vary from dealership to dealership, but I assume not by much.

 

What were the results of the inspection?

 

Just called to get a quote. I will take her for inspection on tomorrow. Owner says she has paperwork from the dealership showing a perfect inspection but I want my own done.
