Looks like the numbers are becoming realistic for MF. Not that big of a deal for me, however, since sales tax was increased in my state as of Jan 1.

As usual, they lowered the residual a couple points. Have you run the numbers? I wouldn't be surprised if things net out about the same.

Question

Is the residual rate based on MSRP or the actual purchase price?

It seems to make a big difference.

I just did a quick test with my previous figures. It's about $7 less per month now vs. last month. Still doesn't add up to enough to make up for the increase I'd have to pay in taxes this month.

For me is means a reduction of $17/month from $540/month to $523/month (inc tax) with no capital reduction on a G37S MT6 with all options except Technology Package and ill kick plates (MSRP 42.575)

For anyone intersted in the numbers that matter
MF .00236 (which differs a little from the posted .00239 but that would only make $1-2 difference)
Residual 62%
Negotiated price $39,399
Sales tax 7%

So I guess the reality is that leases will work out to be about the same as December. Probably about 10 or 15 dollar a month difference. The money factors have gotten better, but the residuals are a bit lower. I signed last month. My deal looked like this....

6MT, Premium, Rear Spoiler, Spalsh Guards, Illuminated Kick Plates
24 Months
12,000 miles
Cap Cost: 38,115
Residual: 75% (added 1% for 12k miles...this is 2% on non-24 month leases)
MF: .00275
MA Sales Tax: 5%
Payment: $535.45 (Includes Tax)

With the new numbers:

24 Months
12,000 miles
Cap Cost: 38,115
Residual: 73%
MF: .00217
MA Sales Tax: 5%
Payment: $522.39 (Includes Tax)

I do wish I had waited as I thought the money factors would get better, but the $13 difference isn't going to bother me.

This is usually the way it goes for the majority of the year until they're trying to dump the remaining models in preparation for the new model year.
