2011 G37S convertible top didn't latch on close

I had a battery issue where my battery went dead when the top was open completely (no issues) I charged the battery which I need to replace and then tried to close the top. The process stopped working correctly when the roof is supposed to latch to the front windshield assy. The latch is closed and I didn't notice if that was the way it was before trying to close or if it just didn't close properly and after stopping at windshield assy it closed the latch but above the catch. So the roof is about 2" above the normal closed and latched. The rest of the process went as it is supposed to and flaps and trunk all closed.

I tried to open the top but the buttons didn't do anything to open or close.
I left the car overnight and tried it today but nothing happened.

Is there a way to get the buttons to work again? I haven't tried to remove the battery but see in this post others have been able to "reset" the status? I don't want to have the car towed to the dealership "again" This is the only issues I have ever had in 9 years of owning this vehicle but it is a show stopper without being able to reset it.

thanks for your inputs

You will likely need to use consult3 to relearn the roof opening / closing procedure. Depending where you live, there might be a member with the software near you. Otherwise, you'll need to bring her to the dealer for the full relearn.

Windshield latch closes early

I am having the same problem. I have a 2010 G37 convertible. The top opens good. My problem is when closing the top stops to soon before the windshield and closes the hooks. It continues to close after raising the parcel shelf and closing the trunk. I can use an Allen wrench to manually unlatch, drop into the slots, and then lock it into place. At this point, I press and hold the close button to fully complete the convertible close cycle. I can open it again without problem but same thing happens when trying to close.

Are there any codes? I do not know if the Torque app with Infiniti add-on will read roof codes, but that would help to potentially narrow down the issue.

However, it sounds to me that the "Roof State" sensor might be out of adjustment or bad. As the roof is closing, it obviously thinks that the main panel is engaged with the windshield header and the latches are locked. This is why the roof continues with the closing operation. If it weren't then the system would stop operation and you'd get a "Check Roof Operation" message on the cluster.

I do not know if a "relearn" would help in this case or not or if the sensor can be "adjusted." I know on most BMW's (which this car's roof is based on) the sensor has to be replaced. YMMV

I connected my Consult 3 laptop to the G37 today and found a few yellow codes. I cleared them and performed the relearn. Top is closing properly now.

It is as I thought, the "Roof State" sensor was out of whack, The blessing was/ is you have the tool (C3P) to diagnose and relearn the roof sequence/ position.

Glad it was a simple fix and thanks for the update!
