In fact, even the headunits from the 370Z and the R35 GT-R are direct fits physically and electronically!
Wow I didn't even think about looking right here at home. Thanks so much for that! Would you know if there would be some minor differences like certain menu options. For example my q40 doesn't have the comfort & convince option like the 37s. Just comfort under a different menu.
I am quite sure there will be some differences- especially between the Q40 and say, the Z or the GT-R (sedan vs. sport car). There are noticeable differences within the G37 line itself...
You would have to scour some Nissan forums to see what those older units offered. I say older because some Nissan models moved to a integrated Navi system- where the display and headunit are one- those will not work.
It is not impossible. But for just a splash screen, only you can determine if that project would be worthwhile or not.
This is interesting. I wonder if you could upgrade to a newer Z screen with the newer nav that is easier to use. Not really necessary, but it would be a nice upgrade if it does not cost too much.
Depends, define "newer."
Unless the newer system has upgraded to the Nissan "Connect" (or Infiniti "In-Touch") system, just about all NAVI systems from the V36, Z34 or R35 should work. From a wiring perspective they are 99% identical.
I've been searching on eBay for such headunit. I found a few used ones ranging from $60-190. I'm thinking of buying one that's for a 2012 370z going for $88. If I don't like it I can hopefully resell it back on eBay but at the same time I've also been looking at Maxima and 370z car reviews on YouTube that go through the navigation system and it's menus and I've found the Maxima to be a bit more similar in regards to Infiniti so I've started looking for Maxima headunits. I'll definitely update this thread on whether or not I've gone through the project.
Before you pull any triggers, let me know which way you are definitely leaning so I can pull the FSM's and briefly check the wiring pinouts- especially if you find any donors on eBay that you are interested in.
Again, I have to state the obvious... this would, technically, be considered a "downgrade." You already have a 2015 system. Is the "Nissan" splashscreen- something you barely see for 5 seconds at boot- really worth it? Not discouraging you, just injecting some practicality. Either way, if I can help...

Does his 2015 Infiniti Navigation require him to give voice commands for navigation separately for state, city, address, etc. like in my 2013? Not sure which version you have exactly, but a newer Z or Maxima has a way more advanced version of the navigation, graphics, etc. I'm just not sure how new you can go before the buttons or wiring starts changing.
I will admit I have no idea. My NAV is 2014 and to this day I have never used the NAV function- or any voice commands- to this day. It is not a function I need or am interested in using.
Upgrading to a newer headunit version would mainly be contingent upon whether the system is modular or integrated.
FWIW, just found a 2020 Nismo 370Z headunit on eBay and it is physically identical to those in the G37. Safe to say wiring should be damn near, if not, identical as well.

I thank you both for your input and suggestions. Yeah I think 5 seconds isn't worth it but at the same time it'll still bug me when I do see it. I have to remove my Q40 headunit and take a pic of the back to see if it actually is like the G37s. I'm sure it is but confirmation is always nice. Also in regards to the newer systems, are the screens of higher resolution as well or is it all the same?
On another note, I purchased these mirror LED covers from eBay. I found a thread about these on the forum and was sold.

Just make sure you disconnect your battery and wait a few minutes before disconnecting anything electronic.

The graphics and the actual interface may be "cleaner" but I highly doubt the actual screen resolution is different. I can not state for certain one way or the other, mind you.
Surprised you're not going for the JDM power folding mirrors.

Oh trust me, I did consider that first but me not having memory seats kind of discourages me. Im not really sure if I'm missing wires needed for such. When I was vinyl wrapping my window trim a while back, I removed the door panel to remove the mirror so I can get a cleaner wrap and I noticed I had the wire for the memory seat control switch pre installed already. I also have the wiring for the paddle shifters pre installed as well despite having a manual tilt steering wheel. Would you happen to have more insight on what I would need?
You would first have to determine if your car is pre-wired. To do that you would have to check various connectors at both doors: door pass-thru, mirror switch, each mirror.
The hardest part of the install- whether your car is pre-wired or not- is running the two crossover wires from the driver door through to the passenger door.
Wiring aside, all you'd technically need is a switch, bezel (unless you're comfortable dremeling a hole) and the mirrors themselves. When I did the project, I opted to include the automatic folding relay which folds the mirrors when you lock the doors.
Just remember, Coupe and Sedan mirrors are NOT interchangeable.

Recently found a listing here on the forums for OEM sport pedals. I didn't know I needed these until I saw them. They look great and definitely an upgrade from the normal black rubber pedals. Installation wasn't at all what I expected. The most easiest part was the accelerator. Bolts. Wire clips and the reverse. The brake pedal cover, HOLY S!@#!!! I've tried all types of way to get that cover on. My fingers hurt. It's on now but not fully seated. I'll attack it again when the weather is warmer. The dead pedal clips were rusted somehow someway and I had to break the original dead pedal off.
Quick thanks to Ace_07 for the speedy shipping. Good luck on your future vehicle endeavors. Now to get my carpets detailed.

Agree! I have seen guys use ebay kits to make their own DRL's though.
