The GNTLMN Z Build

I've been meaning to start this thread for sometime but have always had a project or two going on which kept me from spending some time to get this started. But here it is.

Starting late 2015 I started looking for a new car. I had a few things that were really important to me; 4 doors, RWD and a sunroof, which didn't really narrow it down. But then I added one other BIG criteria, a manual transmission. This quickly narrowed down the options once price was factored in.

I had always been a fan of the Nissan Z cars and when the V35 sedans were first released back in the early 2000s I liked the combination of sporty and reliable luxury at an affordable price. This led me to look into the G37 sedans. I wasn't in any hurry and so I spent time looking for a nice example available within California. I knew I wanted a low mileage, well maintained, and COMPLETELY original car so I reduced my search to just 2012 and 2013 examples.

I found a few cars that were fairly local but they didn't seem to have been well cared for. Then just a few days before Christmas and a spontaneous search of CarMax.com led to a sedan with under 33,000 miles on the clock and located about 75 miles away in the Central Valley. The pictures showed a pristine car with lower than average mileage and a beautiful color which I hadn't originally considered. I placed a hold on the car and scheduled a visit and test drive (a great FREE feature of CarMax which prevents your dream car from being sold to someone else before you get to check it out).

I made the trip to see the car in person and after a test drive I knew it was the one. I went ahead with the purchase and after the easiest and fastest transaction ever, I was the proud new owner of a 2012 Infiniti G37S 6mt sedan in beautiful Graphite Shadow exterior with Graphite interior.

The following pictures are from CarMax so please excuse the quality as they're the ONLY stock pictures I have :

Way to go Jimmy, now that's the way to put a build thread together!

G is a stunner all the way around, and what a list of things you've done in such short order. Big congrats on this one, take a bow sir!

Wow looks great! Not sure im feeling the neon green stripe...but would love to see some more profile shots of this. Also get some more pics of the rear spoiler? Hows the fitment? Ive been eyeing the same one for awhile now and just curious about fitment on the sides? Also hows the fitment on the side mirrors? I know with those overlays, there can be issues.

Any plans on blacking out the fog/window trim to tie the rest of the car together?

Thanks Brad, really appreciate it! I took so long to create my build thread the least I could do was make it right.

TBH though, I should have slowed down with the mods because now I can't think of what else to do??

Thank you sir! Yeah the pinstripe is an acquired taste. I might be switching it out to a different color but haven't decided yet. I'll get more pics soon; waiting on a friend for a photoshoot! The fitment on the spoiler is pretty nice. I had ordered the smaller one but they sent this one. The overlays don't fit that well and I'll eventually swap them with true CF covers. Black vinyl on the trim is on the list of future mods.

Because I'm happy with where the car is visually, at least for the time being, I've decided to focus strictly on performance. The car is at 315whp/256wtq and the next logical step would be a simple tune to bring those numbers up and get LAUNCH CONTROL!!

But I've thought about taking it further. After a LOT of research, I figured I'd build the entire fuel system. And so, the next mod will be a full return fuel system with larger fuel pump, upgraded fuel rails, larger injectors, upgraded fuel pressure regulator and a return fuel line. But why stop there? The car will also be converted to E85 flex fuel capable.

I've always been curious what a NA motor can do with E85 and now we'll find out!

Alright I'll get you some pics . Lol. Air ride is PHENOMENAL. I was originally going to just throw on some Swift or Eibach springs but then I wanted a more low so I figured some nice Tein coils with EDFC. But I finally I bit the bullet, dropped the cash and decided air ride was the way to go.

The double bellows? If so, I haven't. If I do decide to do it, it'll probably be after the fuel system.
