I would definitely suggest going with a LW flywheel. That's one of my biggest gripes about these cars, the heavy, slow revving nature. It just feels so much slower than it actually is. Having to blip the throttle so hard on downshift just to get the revs to match correctly. It's too hard to move that super heavy dual mass flywheel.

I am 100% replacing my flywheel and clutch as one of my final mods, along with 4.08 fd and diff brace.

I could budget out a parts & labor project for an aftermarket clutch and lightweight flywheel (and HD CSC). But honestly, I'm not unhappy with my clutch, as far as I know. And that can be a somewhat large project, with a big leap of faith that I'd enjoy having a new clutch, and enjoy driving with a LW flywheel. So I'm disinclined to pursue it unless it's part of a repair. (Hi, Mike )

My driver seat leather is getting worn, and I'd like to have that repaired. Last time I went down this path, I was looking at a minimum $600, so that's a good chunk of change. Probably do that next year.

I might go with a long-tube intake, but honestly I'm disinclined to do that as well. I'm good with my old R2C kit.

I could explore getting new wheels, but I still really, really love my Vossens. So new wheels feels kind of gratuitous.

(sigh) This kind of malaise is what happens when you get to the end of reasonable mods.

Suggestions?
Don't start doing things for the sake of doing things. You really seem to have "finished" the mod path of this car. Take the money you spend on mods and take an extra long weekend road trip or two a year?

Yeah, enjoy it till you feel something is lacking or if you just need to change something. That itch is always there for me whether I need it or not. Perfect roadtrip weather

Don't drive the car much, or in the rain if I can avoid it, so I haven't washed it in maybe 3 weeks.

Discovered someone somewhere over the last 3 weeks had clipped my front drivers fender. There's a scalloped dent near the end of the fender, maybe 1" x 2" in size. The paint isn't damaged, but it's near the fender crease. I'm hoping the Ding Doctor can repair it.

Really sucks to see stuff like this. I mean, I go really, really out of my way to avoid general parking. And yet, it happened. Somehow... somewhere... damn it.

Well, yes and no. If it were me, today, and I knew that I'd done this to another car, then I would go out of my way to take responsibility. But when I was young and selfish... maybe not. People aren't always the person they are all their lives. So I don't want to make assumptions about the thinking of the person who did this. I mean, it genuinely could have happened without the other driver even knowing it. I'm feeling like it was a truck bumper swiping the fender pulling into or out of a parking spot. But for the life of me I can't imagine where that could have been. I'm usually crazy careful about where I park. I think maybe it was at the Deli a few days ago, but I don't know.

Anyway, I reached out to the Ding Doctor this morning. He's been serving the area for decades, and splits his time between on-site repairs and the shop at his home. He repaired a ding for me 13 years ago on my old Maxima, and last year on the G. Very fairly priced, very very skilled, and has a 5.0 customer rating. I hope to just make this thing go away.

I don't buy the 'might not even know' idea. Wheel-to-wheel racing (IE, SCCA IT and related events) there is sometimes a lot of mild contact - especially with Spec Miata. You can feel even a brush - even just a fender kiss that doesn't even dent metal. IMO, person realized it and was just an ***.

The first picture didn't seem too bad, but the second one does. Maybe it is the reflection? Either way, that is a bummer. Fortunately, it sounds like you have a skilled dent guy and that is certainly a skill that takes a lot of time to master. Typically, the metal in fenders is pretty thin so hopefully it comes out pretty cleanly.

Right, the first pic seems gentle, and the second one seems huge. But it's just the light. Reality is somewhere in the middle.

PDR guy reached out to me, and he'll be pushing the dent out soon, maybe even tomorrow. I shared those pics with him, and he's planning on doing it right in my garage. I'm not expecting 100%, but I think he'll probably get really close.

That's good news. If he is as good as you say, you will probably never be able to tell it was there.

It will be 99.9% if not 100%, I had the same type of dent on my car when I got it and it was removed without any issues. I can share a picture later.

BTW, can you please rename the name of this thread? Your G is no longer 'new'.

Rochester, I saw this white Genesis in the shop this morning with Vossens and it reminded me of your car.

Too bad when he put the ARK lowering springs on the car he forgot to pay to have his alignment done properly. Ouch!

That's awesome. The resemblance runs deep.

Really odd choice how he mounted his wheels so the spokes sweep forward, instead of back. To each their own, I guess. It also looks from that pic like his tires are a little stretched. I bet those are 20's.

I had bad inner wear like that on my first set of 275/35 tires. Well, maybe not that bad, but close. It was my first cold lesson that a -2° rear camber will wear fast, and I can only expect 10k miles on the rear tires. I've just learned to accept it, and will be buying my 3rd pair of rear tires next Spring. They passed inspection with 3/16" in the middle, and getting almost bald at the inner edge. This is their last season.

The new Genesis is a very appealing sedan. As potential "next car", it's the kind of vehicle I could slip into sideways from the G, appreciating contemporary comfort over sport. I play that next car game all the time, but it's getting kind of old. Feels like there's a new reality at this point in my life (and at this point in the market, TBH), where it just doesn't matter. Kind of melancholy on the whole car thing, actually, and just feeling sad all around... pandemic news is depressing, I just dropped $3500 on a refrigerator I didn't plan on buying, both girls are going away to college in 3 to 4 weeks, and there's a fcking dent in my front fender.

PDR guy was busy yesterday, so the repair is probably next Tuesday.

I can sympathise with you, Rochester, just dropped $15K on a new HVAC system for my house.
