Thumbs up 11.98 @ 120 !

OK, so it's been a while. The car was hung up in the shop for weeks, as an Infiniti tech could not connect with the ECU to diagnose a non-working AC unit.

We brought it back to The Shop and Jimmy tried all his techs to figure out why they could not read (including a call to Sam), but in the end we sent it back to Infiniti AGAIN and asked them to fix the problem under warranty... (this involved a little coercion with the twin turbo under the hood), but the Service Manager assigned a better tech on it and they figured it out in an hour. Operator Error. Sheesh! Cool air again.

Onto better things...

Last reports had me changing wheels and tires. Yes, I went with the Enkei RPF1's in 18" F/R sizes (to match) and to get more sidewall grip for the rear tires. Looks great!

Went to Island Dragway in NJ for their Friday eve street cars only shootout. Good stuff, I literally made eight passes within three hours! Perfect conditions.

I ran a slew of low 12 second passes, but nailed ONE 11.98 @ 120. I got it on vid.

I've barely seen any Infiniti's in the elevens, and probably none with an auto, but that's irrelevant. This is what I managed.

Props to Jimmy and his guys at TheShopCT.com for the setup and advice, and of course to the hard working parts and service from GTM.

Thanks for viewing.

Coop, that is really good with the 5AT. I can't launch my car for squat with that transmission. It looks like you really started to roll after the 60' mark.

10 lbs boost. 93oct +10% ethanol (East coast required mix--not such a bad thing).

Nothing outside of better rotors/tires/wheels to the chassis.

Thanks for asking.

good reaction time also

My best trap was 121 on 10psi with stock tires, good to know that with the right driver you can be in the 11's

Go BIG!

I just dropped the car off with Jimmy at The Shop. He's sending it to a hi-perf trans shop in NJ tomorrow (Level 10). We are going for the full upgrade and torque converter. The trans shop is going to test, remove, rebuild, install, tweek and test, and then we pick it up.

This will be a substantial upgrade. I've always been suspicious of my trans (bought the car used) and have never been quite satisfied with some of the shifts (1-2nd).

The torque converter will allow the car to leave with some authority, and to immediately lunge into the powerband on the street.

All that power and a 2.07" 60" time wallowing through the stock trans and torque converter is not gaining full benefit. No one needs to do this, but then, no one needs a twin turbo. LOL!

I'm seriously thinking about having Level10 do a valve upgrade for me in next couple of months. The only thing the really bugs me about this car is the craptastically slow shifting and sometimes hard shifts.
