Hey I have a set of tanabe soc coilovers. Unfortunately the one of the rear collars is missing. So I won't be able to adjust the height for one side in the rear.

Would I be able to use the rear springs without the collars?
How slammed would I be with out the collars? Car is a daily and I don't want it to be undrivable?

Any idea wear to get a set of collars? Called tanabe and they would only sell me a whole new set.

 

There was someone piecing out Tanabe parts on here last week or so.

Might wanna look in the classifieds. There may be an extra collar.

You'll just have to buy a whole set of collars. You can't install them properly without them.

 

I wouldn't mind buying a set of collars. They want me to buy one whole new coil and spring for the rear $450. Which I think it crazy considering I bought the whole set used for less than that.

 

That sucks. You can't use them without the collar. If the person you bought them from installed or removed them they had to have known that. But it would have been wise on your part to check availability of parts before purchasing them. You seem to be stuck in a bad situation.

Find a local machine shop and take one of the collars in and have them fabricate you one. It'll be cheaper than $450 for sure.

 

Thanks you've been really helpfull I'm looking into buying a set of replacement collars off another coilover set. Springs have a inner diameter of 65mm....tanabe really should start selling replacement parts.

 

You can buy a brand new set of sustecs pros for $850.

$450 for collars is silly

 

The spring diameter doesn't really help you much. A collar from a different coilover isn't likely to fit. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will. What you need to know is the ID and OD of the collar and the thread pitch. You'll spend less time and money having one fabricated than trying to find on that fits. But good luck.

I looked I to buying them from diego as well until I also called Tanabe and say on the phone with them and had to wait for them to contact Japan to see if I could order just one side, but you can't. You have to order both rear collar assemblies and as you know, the price is $450. Reason why I didn't scoop them up from Diego. Guess you either shell out $450 for collars or try selling these coils to someone else.

 

Might as well update you guys I ended up just buying a rear set of Tanabe springs for the rear. Installed the front coilovers and rear shocks myself from the parted coilovers. Then installed new set of rear Tanabe springs myself. Waiting for springs to settle to get an allinglement. 350 for the coilovers and the shocks and 80 for the rear springs. I think I made out pretty well.
@twothree I wouldn't wanna pass my problem on some1. Karma sucks.

 

^ dont want the be the bearer of bad news but i think youre car is going to handle very funky (inequality in front and rear damper/shocks and spring rates as well).
did you try to get someone to machine you a collar like BB suggested? that seems like the best option

 

Only thing different from a full Tanabe coilovers set is the rear springs. And the springs appear to be similar to each other NF210 vs Pro210. Car is just daily driver and I have no plans to track it. Yeah and if anyone plans to partout there coilovers ill prob pick it up.

Haven't really taken it out for a full on drive so I guess I'll let you know after I go in for a alignment next week. Thanks for the input.

 

Uhhhh. VERY BAD IDEA.

Those springs are not similar, just because the are the same brand. The rates are not the same, let alone the aforementioned dampers. Be safe and do it right. The answer is already in this thread, stop ignoring the help you've been graciously given already.
