Factory 18" G37x Sedan Sport Wheels....

After a year of getting my dealership to replace my scratched up wheels they finally gave in and are replacing them with brand new wheels(same). The service manager emailed me that they are in but he has one major concern. He said he knows how picky i am when it comes to my car and doesn't feel that he can mount my tires onto the new wheels without scratching them due to the tire/wheel mounting machine.

He offered to do them but i would have to sign off on them incase of any scratching that would be done by their machine. Basically saying that he won't replace them again. He offered to pay for me to get them put on and mounted at another place of my choice. He stated that this particular wheel has given dealerships a lot of problems when it comes to mounting new tires and that the finish is very easily scratched. Should i ask him to give me different wheels and if so which 18" or 19" should i go for? Coupe ones? IPL coupe ones? Help!

Well, you're quite lucky they even replaced your wheels. Now asking for different wheels? that's a little bit much and I doubt they'd do that. But if they do, I'd ask for IPL wheels lol.

As for getting the tires mounted, unless you have a tire guy that you know for sure won't scratch your rims, I'd say let the dealership do it because 99% of the tire shops out there such as Goodyear, Firestone etc. will most then likely do a worse job.

If i ask for the IPL wheels i don't know if they will fit with my car. My factory sport 18" wheels are 18" by 7.5 all the way around and the IPL wheels are 19" by 8.5 up front and 19" by 9 in the rear. I am willing to add in a few dollars if the dealership is cool with me "upgrading". I really like the sport coupe 19" wheels too.

the staggered fitment will fit, however, it is not recommended on a X.

It's up to you. Some people have done it. I don't have the X so I don't know how it would effect the AWD system or handling in snow.

I have dedicated Winter Blizzak tires that i plan on getting some cheap wheels for during the winter. Our winters are brutal in Ohio. My concern right now is what wheels to go with for summer! lol

The dealership got back to me. The only 2 options i have is where they mount my tires onto the new wheels(i have to sign a waiver form saying that they are not responsible for any scratches while the mount my tires), or that i can find somewhere else to do it for me and the dealership will take care of the bill. What to do?????

i had new tires mounted on the coupe 19s last week. Infiniti OEM wheels are nothing out of the ordinary. i don't think any major tire shop or the dealership will have any problems with it. i mean, they had to get the tires on the wheels new at one point.

How, exactly, does an Infiniti dealer employ techs who don't know how to change a tire? If they can't do that, I wouldn't take it there for anything.

I agree with you guys. The service manager asked my sales person to call me and tell me that he knows how picky i am with my ride and doesn't want to take a chance because i might complain. When they originally damaged my wheels they had deep scratches on the front face of my wheels and that had nothing to do with mounting or dismounting tires. I understand that there is no way of tires magically being mounted on with the machine touching my wheels, but really they don't feel confident that they can mount them to my liking? SMH
