Is there a DIY for Akebono Caliper removal?
Is there a DIY for Akebono Caliper removal?
Im looking to send out my calipers to get powdercoated and was curious to see if there was a DIY to remove calipers and how to bleed the brakes when reinstalling.
There are only two main bolts that you need to unscrew to take off the caliper, and then the fluid line basically holds the caliper.
As for the fluid, I think you can plug it with something, but I'm not sure.

I would be interested in this as well, my calipers just came back from powdercoating and would prefer to install them myself. I dont trust most local shops in chicago
I searched and found this
" It's actually rather easy. Jack the car up and remove the tires. Remove the two 22mm bolts behind the front calipers and two 17mm bolts behind the rear calipers. If you are taking the calipers off them remove the 14mm bolt that attaches the brake line to the caliper and cap the line. Get a rubber mallett and hit the rotor until it breaks loose. That's about it.
"
Just make sure the E brake is off when removing the rear.
