Wheel/Tire Insurance... Think I'm covered?
Before I get flamed, let me first admit that I'm an idiot. But, I'm an idiot with a question!
My transmission in my 2000 4Runner called it quits on me last week, so I was forced to drive my G for a few days while my buddy installed a remanufactured transmission in my 4Runner. The weather up here was alright for the most part, so it wasn't a big deal. However, last night, we got a surprise 1" of snow while I was driving home from a road trip.
I took it as carefully as I could, knowing my stock tires are not meant to be driven in those conditions. Made it all the way to my apartment complex, turned in, tires turned, car didn't. I ended up running up onto a curb at about 5-10mph and curbed the **** out of my front left wheel. It doesn't look bent, but I'd be shocked if it's not.
I purchased the wheel/tire insurance when I bought the car (talked them down to $400 for it). I know it doesn't cover curb rash, but it does cover road hazards. Are icy/snow-covered roads considered road hazard? If my rim is actually bent, do you think they'll cover it?

I think it would come down to how you explain it. I don't know how the rim and tire package insurance works, but they may end up telling you its a claim for your regular insurance policy.

You asked for that
Personally, I would go with the old "hit the pothole and pushed me into the curb" approach. That should surely be covered with the wheel insurance. Good luck. Truck running ok now? (once again, smart to get that fixed )

Thanks guys! I'm picking up my 4Runner after work tonight, so hopefully the G will go into the garage for a few weeks. I'm gonna call the dealership and explain about the pothole, see what they say. Wish me luck!
