2012 G37 Sedan Journey RWD replacing struts

Hi all! I am looking on replacing the struts on my 2012 G37 Sedan Journey 2wd. The car has 175k miles and I believe the struts (or shocks) were never replaced. I bought the car with 35k miles on the odo and it's treated me well so I want to return the treatment back. Lately I have noticed that the car is not as stable as before so I figured it may be time for struts and shocks. So far, I've been looking at KYB struts. Has anyone used these struts on their G37? What struts do y'all recommend? I do not go to the track. The car is mainly on road for city and hwy driving. Thanks in advance.

From what I hear the KYB struts are a good OEM replacement for the G37 and lots of people are generally happy with them. You say your car is unstable....do you mean in corners or just all the time? Does your car continuously bounce after you go over a bump or if you push down on the car?

There's been certain times on the freeway where the front end of the car will vibrate really bad but only on certain areas on the freeway though. Tires are also low on thread now so I think it could be a combination of struts and tires?

Well a sure fire way to test your struts is to push down on the hood or the trunk of the car and see if you car stabilizes right away. If it does your struts are fine, if it keeps bouncing your struts are shot. Bad tires will create all kinds of different sounds on the freeway. Remeber, the best safety feature on your car is a good set of tires.

Blown shocks will often leak. Are yours leaking?

Did not see any leaks on any of the struts/shocks. I pushed the hood and the trunk and the car stabilizes normally. So I guess new tires it is.

The bounce test isn't as reliable on anything that was moderately stiff from the factory. IE, your G probably will stabilize anyway even if the shocks/struts are shot (unlike, say, a Crown Vic which will dance like a bobblehead with a bad suspension)

If you take the strut off and it won't extend by itself under gas pressure, no bueno.
