Price to shoot for when looking for a 2012 G37 Journey RWD?
I'm starting to seriously consider getting a 2012 Infiniti G37 Journey sedan (RWD). I have also considered 2010/2011 models, but I like the idea of having another ~1.5 years worth of warranty left from the time I buy the car. Since you guys obviously have a lot more experience with shopping & buying these cars, I just wanted to get an idea of kind of pricing range I should shoot for. I would like to stay within the 25k-35k mileage range, but I guess this isn't an unwavering requirement.
Or, instead of going for a 2012 sedan, would it make more sense to shoot for a certified one from the 2011 model year? If so, what price do you guys think I should shoot for?

Thanks. Also, when I do an AutoTrader search, I'm seeing a few CPO 2011's with 30k miles for $25k. But if the listing states that this price is an "Internet Special," doesn't that generally mean they won't budge any lower on the price? If there is a chance that they'll go lower, how much lower than $25k do you guys think I could realistically shoot for?
Also, I was just thinking about this earlier -- supposing that both cars have the same mileage (around 30k), if you could get either a 2012 G37 for $25k or a 2011 CPO G37 for $25k, wouldn't it just make more sense to get the 2011 CPO car? Especially since the CPO would come with an additional year on the warranty (thanks to the extended warranty)?

If you buy the car from an Infiniti dealership, most will add CPO if you request and pay for it. I believe CPO certification is <$1,000. A lot of dealerships are trying to keep their prices competitive so they don't add CPO on every used car. Obviously, if a car won't pass the CPO inspection they won't do it, but that's all the more reason to ask. You can also use it as a negotiating tool. Let's say you find a 2012 for $25k that you like. Start by telling the dealer you will buy the car at asking price if CPO is added at their cost. If they decline after some talking, make a final offer of splitting the cost. The key to getting a good deal is knowing when to walk. If you can't gain any traction in the negotiation, then walk. The G37 isn't a one of a kind car, and chances are the one your looking at won't be sold before they decide to call you and be reasonable.
What do you think of this particular car? I just did an AutoTrader search for 2011 CPO Infinitis, and this is one I found in a color I like:

In your experience, has it proven to be true that an "Internet Special" price really is a no-haggle price? If you think they'll haggle with me, how low do you think they'd go for that particular car? Just curious for your opinion on this...
EDIT: Quick update here; I just had an IM conversation with a salesman via that Infiniti dealership's website, and I specifically asked about that particular car. As I expected he would, he said that they absolutely do NOT haggle on the "Internet Price." He even made a comparison of this policy to CarMax's policy (of course, he quipped that their prices are better than CarMax's). I even asked if they STILL wouldn't be willing to haggle if I visited the dealership today, and he said that was correct and that the "Internet Price" is what they will sell the car for. So what now? Is the part where I basically walk away?

Thanks! This sounds like great advice. I had no idea that CPO certification could be purchased as an add-on for most used cars.

Just be aware that the car you are looking at does not have navigation. Be sure that you are OK with that before you pull the trigger because its not worth regretting later.I was going through a similar situation where I was going to settle for a G37 w/o Nav in liquid platinum. I ended up going to a different dealership to look at some more cars and pulled the trigger on my current car (2013 G37X Coupe - Graphite w/Nav). I sat in the car to drive home and realized that I used the Nav in my old car to get to the dealership and needed Nav to get home. I would have had immediate buyers remorse not getting the Nav.
The reason I mention all this is because you should be able to get a G37 Sedan w/Nav in your price/year/mileage requirements. I forgot to mention the internet pricing. From my experience, those prices are pretty firm. Those are the prices the dealers use to lure customers through the door. There are even some dealers who will advertise prices they don't plan on selling the car for. Shady, but true. As always though, it nevers hurts to haggle. I got a fantastic deal on my car, but I didn't get the deal on the first shot, I had to walk. I bought one of the last new 2013 G37x coupes on the lot. It was pretty loaded with an MSRP of $48,700. The first day I was looking at it they offered the car to me at about $42,500 and then wouldn't budge so I walked. I came in a few days later and left with the car sold @ $38,600. I saved about $4k by walking that first day, your mileage will vary since you are looking at used, but that's one example.

I looked up the KBB value for the car, including the fact that it is a CPO and they claimed $26,600 was the retail value. The graphite shadow color is nice, but I am biased.

If it's just a journey package with navigation, there are TONS of them out there at that price so I would hold out for EXACTLY the color combo you want at the price you want. In my area in SoCal there are over 30 2011-12 models at Carmax for $25-27k. Unless you want a rare feature like manual transmission, AWD, tech package, or sport package then it would be worth it to spend a little more. In my opinion, a CPO 2011 at $24k would be the sweet spot. I bought mine at the Internet Special price and they weren't willing to budge, but it was already way less than it should have been and had sport package so I was fine with it.

But do you think it's a bad sign that they only offer an AutoCheck report, but not a CarFax report? Also, is it usually considered safer to purchase from an Infiniti dealership?
This sounds like it good could be a good deal, especially if the guys at this dealership are willing to haggle...

i just purchased a 2012 G37x sedan loaded with everything including Nav... i know people say the nav kinda sucks in the car but i really wanted it for purpose of resale value. Its the same color as the one you were looking at first, but interior is Black with dark wood trim. I paid 24k with 27k miles on it. Drives like a dream it actually came from infiniti dealership before it went to auction. but infiniti (according to the carfax) had replaced all the tires did all the services for the 30k miles Trannie flush, oil change, alignment..... not sure what else but theres a bit, PLUS they added brand new tires on that baby. i was looking for a car for 6 months b4 i found this one. and i feel like i got a great deal on this car. so all i have to say is take your time and don't buy unless you absolutely love it.
