Do our cars apply/assist the brakes on its own?

Anyone else exeperience this? I used to notice it all the time when i first bought the car but now its only once in a blue moon and i want to bring it back. Its like the brake pedal senses youre about to step on it and it seems to either loosen up or apply itself just a little bit. You barely even touch it and it seems to almost 'deflate' in a way. Sort of like it depressurized. I remember being confused because i would barely start to push and it would press itself on its own

When I got this car, I noticed the very strong engine braking, and that the brake pedal is very sensitive. Maybe this is what yourey feeling?
The pedal shouldn't be mushy or unpredictable though, check your brake system and avoid a possible crash.

Well, knock me over with a feather. Never felt anything like this in my 2011. If the feature is on my car, it's broken as I would expect to feel it at the track.

Can't say I've experienced this either. I brake very gingerly and tend to look ahead/predict. My brakes at 31K miles barely show any wear. About the only time abs kicks in is in the snow.

its very noticeable when a black G37 DOESN'T have the sport headlights - they stick out like a big silvery sore thumb.
