Yep, quality 18s in that size will work well. Might also look at just slightly stiffer front springs w/ those shocks, Tein or Swift should be able to supply them.

 

If you want more grip, focus more on the type/treadwear/brand of tire you get than the size. Many times more improvements to be made with stickier tires than wider tires.

 

Yea, I really do think quality 245s all around would be great. Plus that would keep tire roar down. I'm just not sure if I want to get 10Ks in back or get a stiffer RSB. It might amount to the same thing. With the relative motion ratios that 10K is really like a 5K compared to the 9K up front, so it's no surprise it feels a bit soft.

 

The longer I drive these, the softer they feel. Not sure that is good or bad, though I am dying to know what the Flex Zs feel like now, especially broken in. I'm thinking about going with the +2K spring upgrade all around.

4 months on your Flex Zs? And I would do 2K harder springs on my Basics.... 11/10K F/R. For all that hassle though I might as well get the Flex Zs. How are the roads where you live?

 

Would anyone with the Tein Basic coilovers not recommend installing these on a car used for carpooling with three older women (if that even makes a difference).

While I very, very rarely scrape, I had a $500 Costco run last weekend and couldn't even get a finger between tire/fender. I scraped on a speed bump

I'm not on Tein, but I think passenger weight is going to make a difference.

 

FWIW, I used to scrape with my bone stock 350Z. Some speed bumps are just killer.

 

I've never seen speed bumps so common as in NC.

 

Probably not unless your roads are pretty smooth. Especially not if you have roads that are rather bouncy- for obvious reasons.

 

Thanks for the responses. I guess I'll stick with the stock suspension or possibly try the front Tanabe springs with the 1/4" spacer and cutting the rear spring perches 1/2". I'm only looking for a mild drop, but it will need to retain the comfort of the stock suspension.

 

just did the fronts! super easy, gonna do rears tomorrow. So far im excited to drive this thing when done! it definitely looks amazing lowered, im at about 26" in the front, might have to raise it up a little once it settles cause i imagine it will be lower. or maybe ill go with that
