Seems very very cheap. I ran these:
Amazon.com: Centric Parts 120.42095 Premium Brake Rotor with E-Coating: Automotive Amazon.com: Centric Parts 120.42095 Premium Brake Rotor with E-Coating: Automotive

On my old GTI and loved them. Centric is made by StopTech and the black hats help fight agains any surface rust.

Unless he's gonna track it blanks are better for the street by far. You cant turn drilled/slotted rotors and drilled ones are prone to cracking. Not worth the cost if he's keeping it strictly a street car.

If you get quality drilled rotors (like Adams's Rotors) the holes are beveled so they won't crack.... But they aren't cheap and are mainly for looks... I have a drilled/slotted combo that bites a bit better than stock and is extremely smooth and quiet... But theres not a huge difference in street performance, a pretty penny and I mainly just like the look.

Hows that for a better option? Also, I got quoted $122 to turn my front rotors and replace the pads. So for this price, is it a better option to buy these rotors and have someone install them vs just turning my rotors, in which the price is basically the same?

thanks!

Yeah, C-tek rotors are basically a OEM replacement, the Centric premiums have better venting and a quality paint protection so they hold up well for spirited driving and occasional track duty.
With the C teks I'd be sure to clean the rotor w/ brake cleaner, then mask off most of the pad area, wipe again w/ rubbing alcohol and shoot some VHT Flameproof paint on the hub area and outside (vented fin) area of the rotor, this will keep it looking clean for a few years.

I had a shop put on "generic" rotors (read cheap) when they did my brakes. These rotors rusted in the center within 4 weeks. Had a hassle with the shop and they finally got the "real" (not cheap imitations). They did not rust, but a couple of weeks after installation, the brakes had to be adjusted even though the pads were about only 6 weeks old.

The pads and new rotors did not line up properly. Now. loving it, no ugly rust, no problems with the brakes.

I've used R1 Concepts drill/ slotted premier rotors and ceramic pads on both my G37s & M35S with no problems..

R1 Concepts Car Brake Rotor Disc - OEM Rotors, Slotted Rotors, Cross Drilled Rotor, Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors, Brake Pads, & Brake Kits

Just my 2 cents..
