Use the ramps, and not the jackstands. The load is zero for the swaybars when the car is sitting on ground. I also needed to torque the front endlinks higher than specified. I had it at specified torque and the nut became loose during test drive.
That's interesting. I just installed my coilovers this weekend and noted the first line of the BC Racing manual for the G37 which stated:
"Raise both front together and secure jackstands. Having both wheels in the air will remove all pressure on the sway bar."
When I only had one wheel in the air the sway bar wouldn't move so I assumed these guys were correct. I know that when I installed my Hotchkis sway bars I did it with jack stands and there were no issues moving the sway bar around so I can attest that there is little or no load when the wheels are off the ground but I can't say that what Okita is saying is incorrect either as I never tried it with ramps.
That is interesting superjer2000. Maybe the endlinks have enough play to deal with either one of the scenario. I might still go with the ramps for stability when working under the car and I think its easier to just drive up the ramp.
I would way have rather used ramps than the jackstands when I did my install. There is something very unnerving about working under a car when it is supported by jackstands.
