Thanks for the tip! I'll probably stop by today to get some WD40 and this while I'm there.

Thanks again guys. This is why I like this forum so much.

Update: WD40 didn't help

I picked up some Turtle Wax rubbing compound but before leaving the store checked reviews online and many people said it messed up their paint with scratches/swirls.

Not sure what to do. There's a guy around me who does detailing. Maybe I can get his opinion.

Have you tried a clay bar? The other thing I've had good luck with was a Magic Eraser.

Try a carnauba liquid wax, such as chemical guys butter wet wax. Carnauba itself acts like a cleaner.

I say try the clay bar, it will help pull the contaminates out of the paint. I don't really recommend the rubbing compound which is an abrasive that is normally used to cut the clear coat. If you do end up using the compound you would have to use a polish afterwards to get rid of all the fine swirls or marring that was created.

Always use the least aggressive method first.

Clay bars DO come in different "grades" Light, Medium, Heavy.

I mention in the OP that I gave clay bar a shot already. Didn't know about the grades though. I could look into that. All I used was a bar I had leftover from my Mcguire's kit.
