Need help please, Paint and Wheels Stained

Hi guys. To add to my recent bad luck with the wayward tire tread hitting me I'm having some paint problems. I brought my car in for a service and rotation. When I got it back I took it home and noticed there was some sticky stuff on the wheels. I couldn't get it off completely using soap or goo gone. The wheels are clear coated so I tried non-abrasive compound. Nothing. Tried clay bar on the paint. Nothing. What I thought was dirt on the paint is the same stuff apparently. I think the tech run over something while checking my brakes (which I did ask them to look at) but I can't prove anything because I drove it home already. My local body shop said there wasn't anything he could do to clean up the wheels. Does anyone have any ideas. I'm so upset by this Really tired of things that aren't my fault becoming my problem.

If the coated surface is smooth you may want to try some 90% medical alcohol from the drug store. If it's not smooth then the substance merged into the clear coat. The stain does look to be petroleum based.

Try a little WD40. If that dissolves it, you can then finish off with soap and water.

Absolutely, WD-40 is harmless on paint but be sure to clean it off very well and re wax or it'll leave a dull shine to it.

You can also try bug and tar remover. It's the only thing that gets off certain stuff.

Did you ever figure out a fix for the wheels Jumbo? I'm assuming the wd-40 should've worked hopefully!

I've actually been super busy and so haven't had a chance to try. The initial shock and rage wore off so it's faded to a dull anxiety that's easier to ignore LOL. I'm gonna try the WD-40 relatively soon. As long as I soap and water wash the area afterwards I won't do any damage correct? I'm very leary about putting things on my paint/finish that I've never put there before.

And I did try bug and tar remover, thanks for the suggestion though Radio

If the WD40 doesn't work out I'll try this next. I have some rail dust on my rear near the Fuji symbol I wanted to get rid of anyway.

WD-40 is completely harmless to paint, they state that very clearly on their website. Downside is it can also clean off the wax if you have any so you'll need to re-wax that area.

Ahh I see! I wasn't sure what you meant by needing to re-wax to avoid a dull shine. Thanks again for the help guys.

Meguires Ultimate Compond has always worked wonders for me. Rub it HARD. Like you are trying to rub the paint off. Give that one a shot. You can find it at your local walmart.
