I have a Malbec Black 6MT IPL and the interior is black unlike the red that the automatic IPLs have. I really like the Malbec black and it gets so many compliments. I know a couple of guys with black obsidian G37s and they too dig the malbec black. Dude you have a nice ride enjoy it as is. But next time go with a stick, just kiddin

Hi just signed up.
My 2012 IPL in malbec black got keyed above the driver side door handle.
How hard is it to repaint a near OEM color match to the door? Will blending be required for the front and rear panels?
Thanks!

I had to have my brand new Malbec M37x hood painted from the dealer. They got the metal flake all wrong the first time, looked like a 1970's extreme metal flake with no depth. I forced them to re-do and that time they consulted Infiniti first and got it right. So not sure I really answered your question but I don't think it's an easy color to paint. Not so much the color but the metal flake in the paint, it's subtle and makes the paint look like it's inches deep and not just a single layer.

Most people consider the Malbec Black the best color .... I have it and LOVE it ... IMHO you would be nuts to change it. Unless it's sunny, it looks pure black.

I suppose you could argue the point about value or devalue of respray. One thing seeems certain; it narrows the buying market. Most potential IPL buyers are aware of the unique aspects of the car (ie body color) and will be put off by the change and will move on to see other IPL cars. The buyer looking for an IPL in black will be fewer in number and probably extend the time the car sits on the market.
