How to remove the ipod/iphone connector in the console?

I am working on a project that involves the ipod/iphone connector that is located in the center console. Since the plug on the back of the connector is female and the cable that plugs into the connector is also female, I need to remove the connector for my project; however, I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how the connector is attached. I assumed it would have snapped into the console with a tab that when depressed, would release it. That isn't the case, or at least that I can find. Any help on how to remove it would be greatly appreciated!

Squeeze the pawls from behind, and push.

did you open the console up? you need to take off the shifter part and cup holders to get to the back of the connector.

once you are in take the plug out of the back of it, then there will be 2 clips on each side and 2 clips on top that you have to get with a tiny flat head. they are a bitch to get off. once you get the top and both sides it will come out with some pushiong even though there is a clip on bottom too lol... heres pictures:
