disable remote auto window down, etc. using consult III

I had trouble finding this info via search for my soon to be delivered G so I thought I would post it here for others. The dealer can disable the auto window down feature to avoid accidental window down operation when your remote button is pushed while in your pocket and you are out of the car. They can do the same for trunk release or change it to require 2 button pushes.
Here is the full list of those and similar functions they can change with the Consult III on a 2010:

Very interesting information. Thanks for sharing it.

Is this specific to the sedan only or does it also apply to the coupe?

Don't know, I would think it would be the same since according to my google searching various Nissan's can be set this way. Posted info is from the 2010 sedan service manual. The service manuals CDs are very inexpensive on ebay and filled with useful info even if you never turn a wrench yourself. Interesting that this problem of windows going down due to the remote date back 8 years or so! My Audi had this feature as well as trunk open, windows up and panic alarm, but the buttons were flush and required substantial force to actuate. I'm disappointed in Nissan's indifference to this problem, there are hundreds of posts over many years from Nissan and Infiniti owners with ruined electronics and interiors due to rain/snow damage when the remotes malfunctioned or "pocket dialed"

Thanks for the information.
Whenever I take the car back to the dealer, I'll ask to have the trunk and window down function locked out, on the smart key.
I keep the key in my pocket and use the buttons on the car, so I don't need or will miss these functions.

just to clarify, they don't do anything to the smart key itself

Per the service manual, the dealer hooks up to the car with the consult 3 and changes the "modes" for remote windows down and trunk unlock.

I wonder if they do that for a courtesy or do they charge for it?

Don't know, suspect it varies by dealer. It does take time and someone has to pay the technician. I plan to get it done during the pre-delivery service.

Sorry it is a cut and past from the service manual and the formatting was messed up in the process. The ALL CAPS lines are sections. I'll try to post again as a scan or an attachment later.

Most dealers will charge for this option as it does take a while to reset. But if they want any more than a half an hour (about $60 depending on the going labor rate) to do it go somewhere else.

Just wanted to confirm that the dealer can do this. I had it done for free as part of my new car prep.

I notice it say "ENGINE START BY I-KEY".

Does this mean our vehicles all have this functionality?

If the battery in the I-key is low or dead.. you can open the door with the hidden physical key and plug the I-key in just below the trunk release button. Pretty sure this is what in means by "Start Engine By I-Key". Am I following you on this question? It's not like we can push any buttons on the I-key to start the engine.. correct?

I was hoping that it meant remote engine start. I knew it was wishful thinking as there have been posts about Infiniti wanting to charge $500-$700 for this functionality.
