Audio Sound issue

Hi, super excited to be back in the g club (briefly had g35x sedan). Just bought 2010 G37 convertible with Bose, navigation and 6 cd.
Tested and was having issues connecting with bluetooth (would be connected, but wouldn’t output sound and wasn’t an option, only disc and music box), but given am/fm worked, thought it was user error. However, tried to put in cd and it would not even go in.
So, read up and saw the self diagnosis posts so did it and came up with Control Unit red block but all other stuff seemed ok.
Question then, which part exactly needs to be replaced? All other functions (camera, display navigation, etc) appear to work, though not sure about the rear sonar. Found tons on eBay and contemplated replacing all the units, but thought I would shoot this out first.
Additionally, while everything is apart I thought might as well get one of the grom like add on and add CarPlay, etc. The screen is touchscreen so not sure I would have to buy the screen replaced version or not.
I tried reading the av manual but couldn’t really tell about the control unit.
Thank you in advance!
Mike

With the Control Unit being marked in RED, fully indicates that the control unit is shot. Given the DSP error (ignore the number, it is a counter, not a specific code) there is no repair option available. Just replace the headunit and call it a day.

You can search eBay using "G37 25915" as the search term and plenty will populate. It should be a one-hour repair job. JUST PLEASE DISCONNECT the BATTERY FIRST, WAIT 10-15min., BEFORE FIDDLING WITH ANYTHING. Also, please pay attention to what connector goes where, it is EXTREMELY easy to mix some of them up.

I have no idea about the CarPlay, GROM, or other gadgets, perhaps others more familiar with those will chime in.

Great to know! I read a decent amount and it seems like I have to be careful with the part number 25915 end numbers as they are subtly different between models? I.e. specifically get one that fits a 2010 with nav, Bose, and 6 disc changer? Without taking mine apart I’m not sure the exact number I need and I’m not ready to tear into it quite yet being the holidays.
Does it really matter that much from your experience? Thank you again!

Correct. In Nissan parts nomenclature, the first 5 digits identify the actual part while the last 5 digits identify the vehicle the part is intended to apply to.

However, as long as you get a 2010-2015 with NAV you should be fine. You might lose the "Music Box" feature as I'm not sure when that gimmick was dropped. All of the audio differences the 'Verts have (Audio Pilot, headrest speakers) are handled via the Bose Amp not the headunit. Plenty of folks have mixed/ matched these headunits- even from Nissan-branded cars- and they work all the same.

EDITED 28 DEC 2024 to add: the headunits in the 'VERT ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with those from the Coupes or Sedans. The wiring in the 'Vert is slightly different than the others. I apologized to OP for this error on my part.

New issue

Got a new headunit, seems to have all functions working (including Bluetooth and cd now) but absolutely no sound now, not even am/fm any longer.
I did the self diagnosis and no errors. Tried to check speakers and no sounds on the speaker test. Any ideas what could be wrong now? Everything else seems to work now except sound.

Old head unit 25915jj52c, new 259153JA2C.
There were two sockets not used, one of the white ones and a grey one (you can see the white one without tape and the gray plug is the one uncovered near the tape with 5 and 4 on it.

I couldn’t find any plugs to go in those sockets, but I wonder if that’s the issue with sound?

Well, figured out that it was the new unit, guess it won’t work with the amp?
Can it be programmed?
I put the old head unit and back came the music. Still won’t play cds or bluetooth.

Ok, so I did some digging and I owe you a apology. You will, unfortunately, need a headunit from another 'Vert. Apparently, for the Coupes and the Sedans, the wiring is identical. When I checked for the 'Vert, the wiring is ≈75% different especially when it comes to the speaker inputs, the amp on/off signal, a few other circuits including AV COM and RHT status.

As for it being programmed, that I am not sure. The dealer or a certified Nisan shop with the CONSULT3 software tool might be able to reconfigure it but it will likely be cheaper, and easier, to just find the appropriate headunit.

Keep in mind the "JJ" in the last 5-digits of the p/n (ie. 25915-JJ52C) are specifically for the 'Vert.
Feel free to give me a swift kick in the ****...

Ha, no worries! So I’m guessing if I get the same label jj52a I should be good then? Many of the sellers can’t tell me what car they came from, but it does have the same label number as mine…?
I’ve checked and at least one with the jj52a for sale side came from a sedan…🤷‍♂️. Ugghh, doesn’t seem like it should be this hard!

Found this unit from 2010 convertible with nav but didn’t mention Bose or cd changer. Does not have the same number though 25915-ZX74A

It isn't but, for the 'Vert, apparently it is. The problem is that all of these units are technically the same just configured differently at the factory. Getting one reconfigured/ reprogrammed is not the easiest or cheapest.

If it has NAV, it has Bose. That much is true for ALL of them.

I'd get one that you can verify is from a 'Vert. That would make it A LOT easier...

So I understand, most of the above still holds true that the number is not as important as the car it comes from, correct? So if I find vert 2010+ with nav, Bose I should be good even if the numbers don’t match, correct? Thank you once again!

The way I understand it, yes. For the 'Verts, at least, the replacement MUST come from a 'Vert.

Found this from 2011 with navigation. As reminder I have a 2010.
2011 INFINITI G37 CONVERTIBLE - RADIO CD PLAYER OEM 25915-1JA1E
I’m thinking of returning the other and going with this one.
