Exclamation Rear view camera whiteout

Hello all,

Ive got an imported 2008 370GT, 6MT sport package with 4WS. Car is bone stock apart from the CDC kit and a piggyback nifty-city android auto system.

All has been working fine until recently on a hot summer day I was backing out of a parking spot and could see the image on the center screen going brighter and brighter very slightly. I figured it had to be reflections of light from the cars behind me, but as i kept backing out, the screen went so bright it was like being in a snowstorm. Now its whited-out by default and only shows me the steering trajectory scanlines on a blank image. Strangely, when the surrounding level of brightness is low, say, in a parking garage or during night time, the camera works. Aside from that, sometimes it is not projecting anything at all, other than a black screen saying to "check surroundings etc", not even scanlines. This last thing also happens to the mirror camera occasionally, a black screen. Weirdest thing ever is that when the cameras dont give me a feed, I cannot use the touch screen on the head unit! Its black magic. I can still use the turning dials etc to control it, but its touch function is gone. I cannot reproduce this error as sometimes the cameras work and the touchscreen works fine as well.

Im wondering now if i have to replace the camera or the whole head control unit... rather not do that since the ones for 370GTs are extremely hard to find (and I dont know if they are interchangeable with G37s). Perhaps the forum wizards can help me out?
In the attached image you can see the edge of my slightly misfit spoiler, excuse that.

Thanks in advance guys (and gals)

Kind regards,

BB
