No Nav Back up camera solution

Hi,

I want to add a back up camera to my 2008 G37s Coupe without navigation.

All I want it to do is when I put the car in reverse to show me the image in my screen, preferably a wide lens camera.

Are there any solutions to this? I saw the Navtool item but it seems pricey for what I want to accomplish. Are there any cheaper methods or alternatives?

Thanks

your going to need some type of module for this... I checked out nav tool and it' a great product but that' is what you can use.

Another solution were looking at is on this forum it's related to directusnav group by for a all in one touch screen solution.

it's very easy to install a camera either using navtool or the PAC VCI-NIS2 (which i used). feel free to check out my thread over at g35driver:

Installed E Coastal Tech Backup Cam with PAC VCI-NIS2 - G35Driver

if you want a cheaper alternative you can wire it yourself with some relays and the shop manual. i had intended to put together a schematic for this many months ago but never got around to it.

Returned to first question: it is possible to install OEM backup camera to G37 w/o NAV unit?
I was planned to buy a rear OEM spoiler with camera. What i need to buy: some modules, wiring harness?

Yes
I think the main problem is switching video aux input to backup camera while shifting to R if just to plug in camera to RCA.
Meanwhile i almost find the solution:

there is no problem, in switching. You ground the parking brake, cut the speeding sensor and connect the camera to power on when the car is in reverse (the video is projected throught the red rca connection and you can view it by pressing the AUX button

I work at a mechanic in So Cal I've done it to my car

if you are located in So Cal pm me and we can setup up something I've installed two already one was a customers (he did not want to spend extra money to get it installed in the chrome spoiler like the oem so we installed it on the license plate) but mine is custom fitted on the spoiler :P

I'll post pics tonight

But i'll lost the AUX if i'll connect rear camera directly. In an ideal the video signal splitter is necessary.
Pictures will be very helpful
Thank you, bro, but i'm located overseas, in Belarus ))

I like that. What camera are you using to get the OEM distance grid like that?

Not to bring this subject up from the dead but, I want to add the OEM backup camera as well.

If you connect the camera this way, do you get the guideline(green/yellow/red lines) turning function? Or is that an additional module that comes with the navigation system?

No unfortunately you won't. In order for those to work with a stock camera you need the angle sensor installed behind the steering wheel and there is a camera control unit for the OEM lines, etc.

Most aftermarket cameras will have some sort of distance lines on the display but it's not totally accurate. They're still useful tho IMHO.
