Rear View Camera is dark

My 2010 rear camera view always appears dark--any sunlight in the cabin, and the view becomes unreadable. Has anyone else had this issue? I thought maybe the problem is the age of the technology and a newer camera would fix it? Suggestions?

Lens...really? smh

Replacing the camera or the display for something "newer" will not solve this issue. The dash design is such that the angle of the screen combined with limited overhang contributes to this glare from the sun. There is not much you can do short of adjusting the backlighting to a brighter setting. You can try any number of "anti-glare" display overlays but those results will be mixed. I bought one from Amazon a few years ago and while it helped some it is not perfect.

ILM, thanks for replying and that makes sense, but the snarky comment to Zoe on her lens guess was unnecessary and it can create division or keep her from posting again. We're all in this world together and remember kindness is a rarity; so please remember that next time.
