^^Hands definitely work!
I'm hesitant messing with any dash panels that use clips. Typically end up breaking something.
On a scale of 1-10, this was probably a 2 to install. I'm not a fan of crimping so used solder and heat shrink tubing for the connections.
I did run into a bizarre issue. The stock 3 switch holder is keyed. The switches will only go in one way (one edge has a narrow width, other has wide, forget which one is where.) Had to mount mine upside do for it to fit the switch holder. It was either that or use a dremel to remove the guides from the narrow side. I didn't care enough to bother.
You can see in the pics below.
There's no way to rotate the switch in the plastic housing, it's all molded together.
The sonar switch got installed in the bottom piece but left it unplugged. The stock harness was so nicely wrapped and taped, didn't want to disturb it too much (odd wire noises?). In the last 3 1/2 years i've used the sonar switch exactly 0 times, leaving it always on.

I saw that one too, considered it, but like the OP, didn't like the rubber covers. I'm just glad to have a bit less cable clutter now. Just ordered some 18" micro usb cables on ebay.
Item # 121100495210. They come in a set of 5. Figure i'll lose a few over time.
