G35xS Alpine System?
G35xS Alpine System?
Hi everyone.
I was thinking of installing a subwoofer in my car. Im located in Calgary Alberta. So far I wanted two 10" or two 12" subs but not sure since i do use the trunk some what. I listen to lots of Rap/Hip hop / Techno/Dubstep/Electonic. I know the Alpine Type R's are responsive sub woofers.
I just want to know best amp and sub for my car. Im not too sure my seats come down but i do have a ski hole. Money is not an option but i just want good quality stuff but nothing extravagant i.e rolls royce of sub woofers.
Any help will be appreciated. I dont know who to go for to get the system installed in Calgary since im new here but I am getting the the sub/amp on my own since im getting a better price. So far visions electronics in Calgary have given me a quote of $1900 all in for two 10" Alpine type Rs and
MRX-M240 X amplifier

Not sure how prices in Calgary are but that sounds insanely high. What all comes with 1900$?
I found 2 x 10" Alpine Type-R for 262$ shipped & the Alpine MRX-M240 amp for 428$ shipped.

I'm planning to get alpine type x and a mr1100 mono alpine amp I'm getting a good deal online for about 650$ for both. But what my concern is that will my 2008 g35x electrical be able to handle 1000wrms ?
My previous car a 2002 BMW 530i had some lights dimming and what not when I threw in 0 gauge wire for amp and subs. I had two kicker L7s and a hifonics Brutus mono 2000rms amp and I know those hifonics amps are power hungry and don't really put out in watts as they claim but still it was a loud system just lacked sq.
I'm aiming for SQL I had checked out sundown audio amplifier and 12 inch sub but I don't want the box to take more than half my trunk. I heard they make quality stuff but I have decided on the alpine. I also want to get a power efficient amp not a power hungry one. I will be running it on 2ohms. So with the alpine setup I might have sne money left for a nice enclosure and a yellow top optima battery.
Please give me some feed back on this. Thank you

A class D amp is very efficient. I would go this route. Some people claim they don't sound as good as class a/b but my ears are happy with class D.
Are you planning on running an amp to your mids/highs? That is where your SQ might have been lacking.
I run a NVX 900.5. Roughly 900RMS. I get no dimming or weird electrical problems.
If you are planning on running two large amps I would try them out first. You might not have a problem. If you do have a heavy electrical strain, look into a High out put alternator. Either way, you will need a bigger battery. Caps and grounding kits wont help you if you are pulling a heavy electrical load.
It sounds like you want something loud but want decent sound quality. That's all dependent on your box and who/how they make it.
I would try a single 12" ported with around 1000rms.
For most people 500rms is good.
Bass heavy I usually go with a larger 12" and 1000-1500rms.
If you plan on building your own box be sure there are no leaks, even if its a ported box. Leaks will change your tuning frequency.

My only issue with electrical is having to change the alternator because i dont want to go above in beyond for a 1000rms setup. They have a diagram and size specs on this link for the Icon Sub you think the ported single 12" will take too much space? ICON Series Sub Woofer
As far as amplifier goes I willl look into getting a good quality amp maybe from Sundown Audio or Kicker amp. I will also be throwing in a yellowtop optima battery since winter is near but im not sure if that will fit in a our G battery compartment. Im not the most handy person when it comes to tools :P
Oh and i might give that sub 1250+Rms
A single 12 sealed only needs a 1 cube box which is about normal
I would do 2 cubes ported. It sounds like you want tons of bass with out giving up to much room. Loud bass takes up room. A sealed box can get loud but a large ported box will give you much more bass.
Do you have a coupe or sedan?
Do you actually use your trunk?
A single 10" ported might fit your needs also.
10" subs are just as beefy as 12" subs

I don't think they made a g35xs in coupes. So most likely it's a sedan. Are you planning on replacing all the speakers and putting a amp on them as well? It'll be quite useless with 1000+wrms on stock speakers.
