Can't use Pandora with iPhone 5

I have a 12 G37x I just got an iPhone 5 and when I plug it in it doesn't play anything but the iPod. It says no music playing. My iPhone 4 played everything pandora , soundcloud, shout cast and tunein radio. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how do I fix it ? I don't understand how my iPhone 4 worked fine and my iPhone 5 does nothing. The car doesn't have nav and the Bluetooth phone works great. Thanks for any help or if anyone has the same problem so I know it's just not me .

I have a non Nav car ..... The Bluetooth works fine with the phone. When I use the USB cable nothing works except music on the iPod . My iPhone 4 everything worked while plugged in.

That's true, but it sounds like DJ understands that.

What cable are you using? A new lightning one? Here's what I'd try. Get an old 30-pin iphone cable like the one from your iphone 4. Then attach a lightning adapter to it so it fits into your iphone 5. I have no idea if it will work, but it's worth a try. I'm just speculating that the pin-out is different in the lightning connector and maybe going through the adapter will make it work differently.

Report back and let us know.

I figured out how it works ..... I plug it in hit the disc button so the iPod screen comes on. I play a song from my playlist. While the song is playing I turn on pandora on my phone and it over rides the iPod and starts playing. It's definitely different but whatever as long as I can play other music apps beside the iPod. It also plays audio from YouTube which my iPhone 4 didn't when plugged in. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and help
