Help using the voice regonition button

I have a G37 convertible and am confused about using the VR. When my convertible top is down the VR button doesnt work, is that suppose to happen? I can hit the "talk"/VR button all day while sitting in my driveway. If I am driving my car, my convertible top is ALWAYS down....so it makes no sense to me that I would not be able to use the voice recgnition system while my top is down.

Thanks for your help!

You are correct that it doesn't work with the roof down (Owner's manual 4-88).

It would make sense, with the top down there will too much background noise for the system to recognize what you're saying
