Dilemma with Navigation - Needs to be replaced, but...

I mentioned this a while ago, but I'm sure none of you remember

2010 Sedan with Navigation. I've had this odd flickering navigation screen for almost two years. The issue happens when I physically turn OFF the navigation screen (black screen <-- did this come with the update? it used to still be lit when off w/ black screen) and then turn it back on anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes later. It sort of looks like a bad analog tv screen with lines going through it; goes away with time. It also happens when it's seemingly cold out.

Its been verified by the dealership, but like all dealer warranties, swapping out such a big item, will inevitably leave MORE damages and rattles in the car. I'm noticing my navigation screen lagging a bit more currently as well. Going in between the CD player option and my iPod menu on the screen causes it to freeze momentarily -- have to recycle through the different players once usually to get it to free up.

Thoughts?

Looks to me like you have no choice but to get it replaced. I don't think you want a malfunctioning NAV screen and everything else associated with it do you?

Get it done, you don't want that navigation screen biting you in the when you go to sell your car and a potential buyer notices it.

I have to agree, get it done. Make sure that when you pick it up, take it for a good test drive to ensure no new rattles or issues. I would also test it extensively before even leaving the dealership to see how it performs. Good luck whatever you decide.

why would it make things rattle and what now ?
its just an unit that needs to be replaced ... if its bolted down like it should, no problems should happen ..

If its just the head unit and/or screen that needs replacing it's easy. They should be able to do it in 30 minutes. I've taken them out and it's a piece of cake.
Nothing will rattle afterwards, so don't put it off.

Just get it done. If it rattles that's why you have a warranty. I wouldn't sweat it.
