USB Options on 08?

Tried searching the forum, but no luck.

Picked up an 08 G37S Coupe 6MT over the weekend, love it so far. However, I'm looking for a way to play music from my thumb drive like I did in my VW GTI.

Is this doable on 08s? I know the port is for iPod/iPhones, but are there any other adapters? I've been looking, but no luck yet. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?

Thanks

there should be an aux port in the center console, with a red/yellow/white input holes. You can get a universal cable to go into there and whatever you wanna use to play music. Not a 100% sure tho i just got the car too but im assuming thats how it works, then just press AUX by the nav screen.

I have a compact flash slot underneath my cd player on the dash console.

Is that what you need? Manual will tell you the formats that are readable.

I know about the compact flash slot. I'm looking to somehow use my USB thumb drive (16gb) to play music. I believe 2010+ have usb ports, is there a way to retrofit the 08s with one? Or would that be more trouble than its worth?

My opinion is that it is more trouble than its worth. If you going to do an install for that go all the way and install a car pc, I have done a couple in my past vehicles but this G37 dash already has many features i needed.

Good luck and enjoy your G.

TS, I feel u bro. I quit doing CD's a long time ago. In my previous vehicles I had aftermarket cd players that had usb input and the **** was lovely. But I did find a workaround that's pretty inexpensive and works well. I usually dont like FM transmitters but this one I ordered from amazon is the ****. Sound quality is great and it reads usb, sd card, and aux. Check it out....

Get a new or used ipod. It is MUCH easier to manage playlists, folders, tags, etc. using most media player apps.

LOL @ CF... BUT you can get CF that is way better than just about any USB drive.

That flash card slot is pretty good to play music on, but it also allows you to update album/track info when you rip CDs to the hard drive.
