Iphone BT sounds horrible

Just picked up an Iphone 4G and no one can hear me via the 2009 G37 BT. I need to pickup the phone for them to hear me right. They said it sounds like horrible service? any idea?

I've had it happen, but not all the time. I use it on occasion without any issues.

Talk to your sunglasses holder, not your steering wheel. Yes it sucks. I have the same problem and the dealer keeps trying to tell me there's nothing wrong with it and that I'm using an "unsupported phone" like Bluetooth is something specific to each phone. Also you may try playing with your output volume, if it's too loud it can clip and become distorted.

For me it's not just my iPhone 4, my Nexus One does it too when paired with the car.

Interesting... if iOS 4.1 fixes that problem, no wonder I don't have an issue most of the time. I'm running 4.3.3

I did a test with a buddy of mine the other day, and I think I have figured out how I have to speak in the car for people to hear me. I found that what I was doing was upping the volume of my voice beyond what it would be for talking to a person sitting in the passenger seat. He said my voice was crackly, and sounded distorted. I then used the same volume and attempted to direct it towards the microphone... even worse. I then started near yelling, which made it worse. I then tried whispering, and suddenly he said he could hear me perfectly clear. Then I upped my voice just a little bit so I was just barely talking, and he could hear me great. I found that the volume of my voice actually has to be less than what it would be to talk to someone sitting next to you. I then spent a few miles on the road talking in this normal voice, and he said it was the best he's ever heard me in the car.
