anyone ever replace the rear speakers on the vert?

i was looking at the install instructions for the smart top and noticed that the subs were under the back seats.

look at av-416 of the service manual for reference.

and se-259 for seat removal.

install step 3 in the smart top install.

i'm curious to know if anyone has ever replaced these woofers with something more "bassy". i suppose one could put an amp in the trunk in that storage compartment and wire it back to some replacement 6x9's (they look like they are 6x9's). i don't think anyone makes decent 6x9's for handling only sub frequencies anymore... but hey... one could potentially mod it to fit some 8" subs.

here is a pic of the backseat taken off. this is from the smart top install manual.

My kids love sitting in the back seat when I crank up the tunes because they can feel the bass in their backs...

I think the factory Bose is suffucuent for my limited audiophile needs so I havent replaced anything associated with the audio system.

thanks! i may do it eventually. was just wondering if anyone ever did it, or felt a need to do it. would be nice to get a bit more bass out of this sound system... it's the curse of the bose... "Bass Output Seriously Exiguous"

It's not winning ant sound competitions that's for sure. But I think it's adequate for what it is.

I did. I replaced those 6x9 and added three 12"s subs in the vert trunk:
