Help Navigation system manual update way needed
HI all.
I have 2010 infiniti EX with nav and Bose system, I tried to update the system as I have had some issues with the control unit.
I downloaded an image of the update, burned a DVD and inserted into the unit. The update process went well, but after restarting the car the system wont start, it only displays the Infiniti logo and then goes into closed loop boot cycle. It turns on and off again and again
Question - may someone help me with formatting the hdd and installing the software manually by any kind of PC?
Thanks in advance.

Now I wonder if there is a way to update the system directly to the hard drive because the disc wont even eject or load, it restarts just after the Infiniti logo display.
I guess I updated a EU version onto US version and the system has internal error during the loading process and reboots itself

I can not speak for other regions, but the DVD map updates for US-SPEC Infiniti/Nissan are coded specifically to the VIN AND NAV UNIT ID# of your car. This means the update is only good for that vehicle and can not be used in other cars. It is merely a way to prevent bootlegging and squeeze even more money out of people. The NAV system is crap to begin with and the updates are a overpriced joke- mind you that is my opinion and "I am unanimous in that."
You can not buy just the hard drive. When the HDD fails Nissan says to replace the whole AV headunit. Also, I seriously doubt you will find a HDD image for your car that you would be able to clone. Besides, removing the hard drive itself is more aggravation than it is worth- been there.
Best advice, if you have any technical skills, replace the headunit. There are plenty of used units on eBay- just match the part number of your existing unit. Simple plug and play, should take less than 1 hour and there are no security codes to deal with. NOTE; if you decide to get a used unit off eBay, make sure to get the VIN of the donor vehicle. If you ever decide to "officially" update the NAV maps, you will need that VIN, not yours.
Maybe others will have different ideas...

A number of years back I did a nav unit software update. That is firmware for the unit, not map data. This was disk 0 of the set and not coded to the vin/serial of the device. Several others did the same with out issue. Of course is it was US firmware. Did the OP try updating map data too?
i have the dvd 0 if you want to burn it and try it. I also have a spare nav unit out of a 2011 G37 I can give you a really good deal on ($60). You could probably plug it in and take it to the dealer and have them code it to work with your car. My understanding, and I could be wrong, is the nav units are the same between the g37 and ex, its just the coding done by the consult III plus that sets what options and what cars it is in.
I believe there's also a hard drive image somewhere around here that someone ripped but as ILM-NCG37s mentioned, getting to the drive is quite an annoying job taking the unit apart.
Did you by chance try going into the secret menu?I doubt it works
