XM NavWeather Issues

I have been working with XM radio to try and get my navweather activated with no luck. When I picked up my new G everything was set up and working fine. you have to upgrade to the premier package to get Stern, so I did that and was willing to pay the small upcharge. As soon as I did that the nav weather quit working. i cheked my account on-line and saw that some dolt deleted it. After several phone calls to customer care explaing that navtraffic is part of the free trial, they got it added back to my account. They told me to leave the navigation on for 25 minutes and I should be good. I did that and no go, no nav weather. Anyone else have trouble getting the nav weather set up?

I had the exact same thing happen to me about 3 weeks after getting my car (a few months ago). After being on the phone with customer care, they told me that weather and traffic wasn't a part of the free trial. However, they could not explain why it had been on the car up to this point and the fact that the dealership said it was. After a few hours of frustration I basically hung up.

Called my salesman the next day who told me that he received an e-mail from their XM rep saying that they did a software upgrade on XMs side and people may have glitches. Salesman said I was the first to call. Anyway, after doing the same "25min on" wait thing, it still didn't work. Talked to salesman again and gave him my radio ID, he made some phone calls and a few hours later it was back up and running.

So.. sorry I don't have an answer for you how to exactly fix it, LOL. But, yes, I have had similar issues and all I can say is if your car is new, well it is cause you just said your in the free trial, CALL YOUR SALESMAN AND MAKE HIM DEAL WITH IT. ..customer care was worthless.

OH! ...btw, I just remembered the important part about when you leave it on for 25min. It has to be on Channel 1! ...maybe go to your online account, hit that "resend signal" button, and keep your car on Channel 1.

Thanks that helps a lot. They never told me to keep it on channel 1, they told me to make sure the navigation was on. No wonder it didn't work.
One thing I discovred about XM is that you can talk to four different people and get 4 completely different answers.
The last guy I talked to I was in the middle of trying to get my issue resolved and he asks me what kind of music I liked to listen to. I told him, look dude..lets focus on the nav weather not my taste in music. I'm sure he gets spiffs for selling other stuff.
At the end of all of that he says if you get a customer service survey in your e-mail I hope you take the time to fill it out. Oh yeah...looking forward to doing that.

Lol, I hear ya..

..XM never told me about channel 1 either, but when I spoke to my salesman about this glitch he emphasized the point and it did eventually work. So, if it is absolutely necessary, I don't know. But, worth a shot.
