Funny you say that. I am a long-time audiophile and I usually have the treble set to neutral, bass a little higher. I did replace the rear deck speaker with a 10 inch JL sub and amp. It adds a little more lower end. I'm pretty happy with the Bose's equalization. The only thing Bose does that I appreciate.

I agree the low end is ok , the car before this was a 99 Eclipse with alpine head unit and Infinity kappa speakers / 12 " kicker .. guess I just got too used to it .

I think a lot of people have the placebo effect when it comes to Bose. They've heard that it sucks, so they automatically think it sucks before even hearing it. The Bose system in this car sounds pretty good IMO, and I've been building aftermarket systems for years, so I have a decently trained ear.

The problem with Bose, at least when it comes to home equipment, is that it's too expensive for what it is and you can get better for your $. It still sounds good, it just costs too much for what you get. If Bose cut their prices in half, they'd sell out fairly quickly.

I like the Bose system because it doesn't overwhelm you with highs that are way too bright and muddy bass, like most mainstream factory systems do.

I'm very happy with it. Besides, in the summer I want to hear the exhaust anyway.

I agree with the OP. I'm not a fan. My wife's 2010 Maxima sounds so much better. Not to mention that my rear deck rattles like no other. omg

Might I offer a possibility...

I have noticed that when the Drivers audio stage is to "on", the audio for the passenger sounds pretty bad...the stage is just off and it sounds almost muffled. Once off, it sounds better...not great.

I think from the drivers seat, the system sounds pretty darn good when the audio stage is on...it's not as great as a lot of aftermarket sytems but if you are willing to spend thousands, go right ahead...

I for one had my audiophile stage....I had about $10k worth of equipment in my 2003 FX....Jl audio, Mcintosh, Focal...at the time, it was hard to piece together a better system...I know great sound....and this Bose system is not great...but for oem? Its pretty darn good...my .02
