Navigation Clock Change for Day Light Savings

Is this supposed to be an automatic adjustment? I thoguht that the navigation clock would be automatically adjusted for the DLS but it wasn't the case this morning. I checked the Clock setting menu and it was ON for the DLS with EST zone. I ended up putting the Offset (hour) -1 to adjust the clock on the nagivation screen.

The best way to do that is to press Settings, Clock, and Daylight Savings Time, and then press enter to de-select it. You can just re-select it when we go back to DST. Of course you’ll have to change the analog clock manually via the small tabs on its rim.

Thanks Chekov. So unlike the computer clock, I need to turn ON the DLS option when it starts and turn OFF when it's over.

Yes. I guess it’s because DST protocols vary throughout the countries where the car is sold and even in the U.S. is subject to change, they may have decided not to program it in.

For example, I have an old atomic desk clock for which DST was a few weeks shorter. It now changes itself on the wrong Sundays, so I have to manually change the time zone setting four times a year to always get the correct time. At least in my G37 I only have to do it twice.

Plus some parts of the country do not even recognize DST, which I find weird but whatever.

So whats the difference in changing DST on/off and just setting the clock back/forward? I noticed it on Sunday also, seems like a pointless 'option'.

I'd think its a convenience factor, once you get to the dsl sceen its a one click/push selection change to move the time back or forward.

How do you manually set on the clock for the navigation screens? Let say I move from the east coast to the west coast, how I readjust the time?

Go to Settings, Clock, and Time Zone. Then simply select the time zone you’ll now be in.

So just had to do this myself and I agree with this guy...following DST is not an option, so why would it be an option here?

The arguments above just don't hold water.

Yes, it varies by jurisdiction, but this is a navigation system--it knows what jurisdiction it is in.

Yes, the laws can change...so can the software! My 2007 Acura had the US daylight saving time fixed in an update after they changed the dates. (And my three year older car seemed to be able to know where it was and what time it was.)

REAL ANSWER: lazy *** programming.

The easiest way is to select/deselect the DST option via the menus. It would be nice if the clock could just synchronize itself using the GPS navigation system. What year is this again...?
