This is exactly why the menu is not generally known to the public.

Use at your own risk, and don't expect dealers to fix your mistakes for free. You caused the software damage, not them, or any fault of Infiniti's.

Thanks for all the comments - Got my car back this weekend all fixed and good as new!!

I am still shocked that Inifiniti put a self destruct button on the G37 even in the secret dealer menu

Happy Motoring!

Software update. Apparently the stock firmware on the nav/control unit is the same as what was on the G35. Infiniti loads "modules" on top of it to change the look/feel and add extra features based on model and year.

Cheers!

A cool trick to see a whole new settings sub-menu on the screen

Someone showed me how to get to an additional list of settings, such as various diagnostics options, and a few fun toys. I didn't get a chance to play around for too long, but my favorite so far is to turn on the back up camera as I drive. It's very James Bond. Unfortunately you cannot listen to the radio while doing it.
The way to this is to park, have the radio off, press down and hold the Settings button while turning the Volume **** back and forth very very fast. And a different menu appears on the screen.

To be exact it's more than 40 clicks on the volume **** to access the diagnostics menu

I use the camera trick that OP mentioned too but the camera angle sucks. I can't see the cute chicks driving be hide me. Kinda make me want to rip the sat antenna apart and move the camera there.

It's in the service manual.

1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the audio system OFF.
3. While pressing the “SETTING” button, turn the volume control
dial clockwise or counterclockwise for 40 clicks or more. (When
the self-diagnosis mode is started, a short beep will be heard.)
• Shifting from current screen to previous screen is performed
by pressing “BACK” button.
