Installing subwoofer + amp question
I am gearing up to install an IDQ10 sub and an amp. Are you guys running new wires from the HU to the amp or just replacing the wires from the amp to the sub?
Also, are you leaving the rear 6x9 woofer operational? I was wondering if that could be wired for mid-bass
This is for a sedan

Some amps have a built in cross-over you can tune. I don't know what speakers are in the sedan, but if you're just tapping off the input wires to the Bose amp from the HU then nothing changes from the factory setup. The only change is you've added a sub and amp to juice up the low end.
If you're amp doesn't have the cross-over built in you can pick one up at any car stereo shop, online etc. It just eliminates unwanted frequencies to/from your amp. So for a subwoofer you get a low-pass cross-over to eliminate high frequencies for a much cleaner sound (and it's easier on the sub).
If you're adding a sub, I might add a high pass filter (cross-over) to the 6x9's to remove some of the bass. The subwoofer is handling that now and the 6x9's will sound much better.
