The ’08 G37 has HDD based navigation. Updating is not via a DVD one can buy. I believe you just buy a code that you take to your dealer who will install the upgrade.

Wait at least 2 or 3 years before getting the update. One member here got it for '09 and didn't notice any changes, there's a thread about ti somewhere. My subdivision has been here since about 2000 or so and the streets appear on the map but still no street names yet. They are not very conscientious about updating all of the changed map information diligently each year..

They should break up the update packages into smaller modules (by state or region or something) so users can update portions of their GPS instead of the entire thing, and charge a smaller amount. I think they'd profit more from this as people would be more willing to fork out money for it. I live in California, so why would I need my maps updated for streets in New York...

Just my 2 cents.

There isn't really a best device for video playback since you're going to be using the standard RCA cable anyway. Pick whichever you'd like.

For the iPod/iPhone, you need to get a special cable with RCA connectors. From what I've read, some work and some don't. You can search the Audio/Video sub-forum for more info on this.
