iphone video/charge

ive got the iphone 3g and am looking to buy a audio/video charger cable and splice it with the ipod cable from the car, thereby defeating the no charge capability with the current cable and having audio/video functionality all in one cable to avoid having to switch between cables.

anyone have any experience with this or know if it would work?

also maybe a stealth dock or cradle to position the iphone closer to the console and run the cable underneath the center console

saw that on here b4 but would rather avoid the "this device is not compatible for charging switch to airplane mode" bs message. this converter doesn't get rid of the message apparently

----The adapter doesn't prevent the "accessory not made to work" if this is popping up on your iPhone or iPod when connected directly. Since the charge converter passes through all pins, a device that isn't made to work with the iPhone or iPod will still trigger that message.----

I posted this in the ipod video cable thread. It hasnt arrived yet, but I'm assuming it will work.

Now I'm thinking I'd also like to be able to use my iphone 3g to able to use Pandora and AOL Radio, etc. I know the ipod dock in the car wont work with the 3g, but I'd ideally like to be able to both charge the phone and play audio and/or video from the iphone.

I already have a cheap 12v charger that works with the iphone 3g, so that means the bottom dock is used. I also found this one amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Maxell-3-5-mm-...8447298&sr=8-1

I figure with this I can send the A/V to the stereo/nav screen, while still charging the 3G, and listen to Pandora, etc.

Anyone know if this will work?

thanks but this doesn't address charging the iphone and controlling it through the ipod interface in the car.

yes, that message comes up - once. then goes away. nothing to worry about. it still charges while the car is on and you can use your in car controls.
