Something like that should go in the front where you can have control over it at any time...

Amp settings

Hey finagle69,

Could you let me know what your settings are on your JL Audio amp?

I just installed the same setup, but am having a hard time tuning the amp to sound good with rock and rap.

Thanks for the write up.

to be honest, I'm not happy with the settings i have dialed in at the present time. I listen to rock most of the time, and Jedmonds (on the forums) has an identical setup without a stealth mounted amp. i think his hits harder and cleaner. i need to take his G hostage and mimic his settings. once i do this, i'll update this thread with a high res picture of the settings.

also, March 9th, the photobucket bandwidth will reset and all of these pictures will be back up.

I found a post by ironchef2008 that includes his amp settings. I started with his settings and then just changed it a bit. I am real happy with my settings now. I will try and get a pic today.

Here is the link the the thread I was talking about.

So i tried doing this yesterday and pulled out all that plastic in the trunk only to see couple of boxes in the same location on the passenger side(where you have put the 500/1).
1)Where did you relocate them to?
2)How did you secure the 500/1, did you bolt them on to one of those screws protruding up from the frame?

I'm a complete noob and have never done a car audio installation. So if these are stupid questions, bear with me
The reason I'm doing this is, when I asked around at the installation shops(SF Bayarea) I get quoted like 175$ or 250$ and I felt like that was a rip off.

Actually, my car didn't have the boxes in that location that you're talking about. Do you have Tech or 4WAS packages? I do not.

The amp is screwed into a piece of MDF that I wrapped in felt a few times to give it some shock absorption. Then, strange as it may sound, the assembly just sits down on the frame lodged in place by those protruding screws. The assembly is NOT secured to the body of the car, but does not need to be by how securely it sits. Then the black plastic trim piece just sits snuggly right over it.

Those prices are definitely on the high side. I'd expect to pay around 100 to 150 depending on if you need wiring done as well.

Nope mine is just 2009-37S-6MT with premium package. No tech or 4WAS. I have those voice recognition and sat-radio boxes at that location.
btw, it was a PITA to put those black plastics back. Very easy to pull out, but had to struggle to put them back on. Is it me or is it like that?

thanks again,
-A

Strange that they relocated those boxes. Mine are under that same trim piece, but further towards the front of the car. In fact, I used one of the bolts for them to be the ground for my amp.

impressed that there are actually others out there that pay enough to detail to install a fan. Mad props.

^ thanks man. Not sure how much help the fan gives, as there's a vent on the side to outside air. But more airflow certainly makes me feel better.

Another brave soul who put the amps down low. Makes for a very clean install and its hidden. I have all three of my amps and my processer under the trunk mat and there running fine. Good job
