Talking Minimal Audio Install Redux

Hey guys,

Just posting a picture thread for my reconfigured audio install.

HERE'S a link to my previous install thread, so you can see the installation of cabling and remote bass ****.

What I've done is sell the Zenclosure box and replaced with a 4080 enclosure, and stealth installed the JL 500/1 amp under the passenger side plastic piece in the trunk.

Being slightly worried about heat, I installed a 120mm, variable speed computer case fan that takes air from the spare tire compartment to blow over the amp's heat sink fins. See below for pics.

Pic of the amp with power cable routing.

spliced a 4-pin molex connector to quickly disconnect the fan if needed.

fan and reostat mounted to the inside of the plastic piece.

front of plastic piece... had to put the fan guard on there... some dumbsh|t stuck his hand in there and hurt his little finger (Wes...).

everything mounted up.

spare tire in place.

jack and plastic cover in place.

finished passenger side.

finished driver side.

Very clean installation... I plan on going this route eventually. How does it sound, better than with the zenclosures?

i did notice a bit more thump after installing the 4080 box, but today i played around with the gains and such on the amp and made it better still. i like the new setup, even if it didnt sound better, it is much cleaner and leaves the trunk that much more useable

Well done my friend!

I've yet to experience any heat concerns with my 500/1v2 but I understand your worry. That stock, fresh air vent next to the amp helps us out as well.

The 4080 enclosure is great... I have used side pocket custom enclosures before in other vehicles and not had this good of a result. I am running a 10" Type R driven with a 600w RMS Pioneer and it sounds great. Accurate and deep bass.

Thanks again to finagle69 for the stealth amp install idea. It works great... so far no overheating problems... and I did not go with the fan. I gues if you wanted to get fancy you could have the fan thermostatically controlled

i didn't have to cut. if you place it in the exact spot i did, it should fit perfectly.

Why in the world would you put the bass **** in the trunk with the spare tire?

Something like that should go in the front where you can have control over it at any time...
