Best Alarm System?

Hey all. Long story but basically I'm moving in to school tomorrow (Elon in NC). My mom's 2 year old GMC Yukon XL and my month old G37S were parked outside our hotel in the back under a light, both locked and all, right next to each other. Her window got smashed, they grabbed the radio (Pioneer Avic-Z1) and one of my suitcases, but were spotted and dropped the suitcase and made away with the radio. (Which is probably worth nothing, they ripped it out so violently with a screwdriver that the unit is probably worth nothing now, except maybe as a heavy object to break someone else's window.) My G was untouched. One other car in the lot had their radio stolen too. (Keep in mind that every single car is loaded with computers, tvs, iPods, etc., since it's college move in, and they chose a Yukon and a Honda to steal the radios when there were plenty of other nicer vehicles and radios around, trust me, I checked.) With this all in mind though, Elon is a very nice school, but the surrounding area in Burlington isn't. It's always been dicey, so now I'm very worried about having my G with me on campus. Can anyone recommend the best alarm system out there? My mom wants one on her truck now and wants me to get one too. I know the factory alarm may be decent, but I want something that will go off if people get within 15 feet of my car. (Ok, maybe not that intense, but you know what I mean, something that will go off if the car is touched while it's locked and alarmed.) Her car was locked and alarmed but they smashed the window and just leaned in to the radio, never even bothered touching or unlocking the doors, so no alarm ever went off, otherwise we would've seen/heard it happen it because the cars are right outside our window.I know pretty much nothing about alarms, so any suggestions are appreciated. I'd rather spend the time and money on buying the nicest alarm and installing it now than having my car screwed up or my stuff stolen because of stupid thieves. Thanks guys.

I have used many different 1way and 2way alarms, and I would say the Compustar Pro is probably your best bet. Throw in a glass break sensor, tilt sensor, and you'll be good to go.

However keep in mind if you want to run the remote start feature, there is also an adapter that you need.

Compustar or Viper... The only 2 alarms I would trust.
