the better radar detector!

in the market for a new radar detector either getting the passport 8500, 9500i(if i have the extra money) or the valentine, between the passport and the valentine wich one is the better detector?

The 9500i(or 9500ix) and the V1 are about a wash - it depends on your priorities and preferences. The V1 has marginally better sensitivity in some bands, but it more prone to false alerts because it doesn't have the advanced GPS filtering of the 9500i. check out www.radardetector.net

I have the 9500i as well and it works great. very few false alarms mostly its the auto door openers at department stores and such. The gps is great always counting down the distance to the speedtrap after i set it the first time.

up until i read this thread, i was going to get V1.. but now i know about the GPS passport and will likely be getting one of those within the next couple of months

Is that from personal experience? I've owned 3 escorts and a V1...V1 wins hands down. False positives > not going off at all (though I don't notice false positives other than the usual shopping centers).

And you can tune most of those out by turning the X band off.

Once you learn to use the arrows, it's a done deal. That's why they call the V1 a "locator" not a detector.

Like AMEX says, don't leave home without one. Saved my bacon several times. I might add it to my sig.
