Adding basslink II to stock system questions???

I'm having an Infinity Basslink II subwoofer added to my stock Bose system to give it that little extra bass the stock system is lacking. I have a few questions and wanted to see if anyone on here can help me out. First off, where is the factory amp at for the rear speakers?? I've heard it was in the trunk kinda by the spare, but I don't know. Also, would it work to just tap into the amp to get the signal for the line converter? Whats the easiest way to add a sub to the factory system without going expensive, ie. not using JL cleansweap or Rockford 3sixty??

Just behind the driver side tail light underneath the trunk floor. Take out carpet, trunk floor, spare, and then the plastic material that makes up the surround of the spare. The amps are right there at the rear on the driver side.

You can use a line converter from factory amplifier. You have 2 factory amplifiers. The 2nd one (smaller) on top is what your using for your rear base. Its the one with the 12 pin plug on it. If i remember right, someone else posted the color code for the wires.

Don't quote me on this but here goes
Orange - rear woofer RH (+)
Red - rear woffer RH (-)
gray - remote wire
Blue - rear woofer LH (-)
White -rear woofer LH (+)

Look for dilyo's post on the wires under AUDIO/VIDEO.

Hope this helps

ok, from what I understand I can just tap into the sub wires to get a signal. The shop charged me for a 4 speaker converter and 2 sets of rca's. Is there any advantages of tapping into the bose amp and getting all for speakers vs. tapping the sub signal only??? I think they might just want more $$$

if all you're doing is adding bass, then you don't need 4 channels, just the rear two from the bass amp.

To my understanding from other threads, the signal to the sub amp comes from the Bose amp, and is processed. I thought you have to tap before the Bose amp to get the clean signal from the HU? Also, why does the mono amp on the basslink have 4 rca inputs for front and rear? I find that odd.
