G37 w/o IPod Interface

For G37s without the IPod Interface, is my only option a FM transmitter? Can I buy a OEM IPod Interface afterwards? What's the difference between the Interface & a FM transmitter?

Just got my 1st IPod & G37 should arrive in 2 wks. Sorry for the noob Q.

Aux through the RCA in the console.

I recommend getting the cable that has both charging and auxiliary input. XtremeMac has one. I have my ipod hooked the right dashboard with a proclip. Looks very nice. I'll link some pictures later tonight or tomorrow.
