Copy Right Issues?

I burned a cd yesterday and made my first attempt to download it to the hard drive, and I keep getting a message saying "This disc is copyrighted" and it wont let me copy the cd over! Has anyone else seen this error? Is it true that you cant just copy an cd?

Makes sense... Damn RIAA and their crap not allowing you to copy your own CDs for backup. Never had it happen to me though.

Yeah.. I've copied a few burned CDs as well as some normaly CDs. Both worked fine.

The copyright makes sense though... Similar to not being able to copy them via WMP.

Today one of my own cd's ripped fine, the other said copyrighted. Should have been the same for both as I made them from scratch. Maybe something in the burning s/w stuck a copyright notice in there. Harumph.

Correct. Most have DRM protection included (Digital Rights Media). Similar to iTunes. There is software you can buy to strip DRM, but I wouldn't know anything about that.

I dont think it was song specific...I usually burn my cd's with nero and they get written as track 1 track 2 and so on, I burned a variety of hip hop and indian music, and nothing worked

BUT!

I used roxio to burn the same compilation and it worked flawlessly, it had track names written and copied over to the hard drive without problems...

I can PM you all the songs if you want to try it...
